Newly declassified documents allege that Senator Adam Schiff, during his tenure as the top Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee, authorized the leaking of classified information related to the Trump–Russia investigation.
According to a whistleblower—a former Democratic staffer with deep ties to the committee —Schiff allegedly led staff meetings that encouraged strategic leaks aimed at undermining President Trump. The whistleblower also described an organized system of leaking within the committee.
Representative Eric Swalwell was also named as a frequent source of leaks. Despite the serious nature of the claims, no formal investigation was launched at the time, largely due to constitutional protections under the Speech or Debate Clause.
Schiff, who was censured by House Republicans in 2023, now faces a separate grand jury investigation into alleged financial misconduct. Meanwhile, the FBI is also investigating several former intelligence officials for their roles during the Trump–Russia probe.
These revelations have heightened political tensions and reignited debates over how classified information was handled during one of the most controversial investigations in recent history.
