Britney Spears Reportedly Detained in California Over Alleged DUI Incident

Britney Spears Reportedly Detained After DUI Traffic Stop in California
Pop superstar Britney Spears was reportedly taken into custody in California late Wednesday night following an alleged driving-under-the-influence incident, according to entertainment outlet TMZ.
Authorities with the California Highway Patrol stopped the 44-year-old singer in Ventura County at approximately 9:28 p.m. local time, the report said.
Following the traffic stop, Spears was reportedly placed in handcuffs and transported for booking. She was processed at around 3:02 a.m. and released roughly three hours later, according to the outlet.
Officials have not publicly confirmed additional details about the circumstances surrounding the stop.
Global Pop Star With Decades of Fame
Spears rose to worldwide fame in the late 1990s with hit singles such as …Baby One More Time and Oops!… I Did It Again. The singer quickly became one of the most recognizable figures in the global music industry, selling millions of albums and shaping the sound of modern pop.
Over the years, however, her career has also been marked by intense media scrutiny and personal challenges that frequently made headlines.
Long Legal Battle Over Conservatorship
For more than a decade, Spears lived under a court-approved conservatorship largely overseen by her father, Jamie Spears, along with other legal representatives.
The arrangement granted them extensive authority over both her personal life and financial decisions. Spears later publicly criticized the conservatorship as restrictive and abusive, sparking a widely followed legal battle supported by fans under the #FreeBritney movement.
In 2021, a court ultimately terminated the conservatorship, restoring control of her personal and financial affairs.
Recent Security Concerns
The reported traffic stop comes shortly after a judge issued a permanent restraining order against a 51-year-old man from Louisiana identified in court filings as Donald.
According to documents, Spears alleged the man had been harassing her since 2013. The filings claim he appeared outside properties connected to the singer in Los Angeles and posted multiple concerning messages on social media.
No Official Statements Yet
As of now, representatives for Spears and officials with the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office have not issued public statements regarding the reported incident.
Authorities may release additional details as the situation develops.
