The Red Poppy is known by many different names: Red Corn Poppy, American Legion Poppy and Flanders Poppy.  Each one of these names refers to the same flower.  The Red Poppy is native to southern Europe and has been associated with agriculture for many centuries.  The name ‘Flanders Poppy’ refers to the aftermath of a famous WWI battle on Flanders Field where these poppies grew into abundance.  This flower is also used in many countries as a symbol of remembrance for the casualties of wars fought throughout the 20th Century.  To use the poppy as a cut flower the ends need to be either boiled in water or burned with a match, in order to curtail their naturally swift wilting pace.   Seeding Rate is 2 pounds per acre if using a seed drill to plant in rows. If broadcasting by hand you will need at least 2 to 2.5 times that amount (4-5 pounds).   Approximate rates for planting around your yard (heavier rates): 10 Grams covers approximately 480 sq. ft. 1/4 Pound covers approximately 5,445 sq. ft 1 Pound covers approximately 21,780 sq. ft   **If you are interested in over 3 lbs. of this seed, please contact us for a wholesale price quote.  To qualify for wholesale pricing $100 is the minimum order.
