HGTV’s Jenn Todryk Opens Up About Ongoing Health Battle: The No Demo Reno star has revealed what she’s been dealing with behind the scenes while battling an autoimmune disorder, offering fans an honest look at the challenges she’s faced away from the cameras.

Jenn Todryk may no longer be filming new episodes of her HGTV series No Demo Reno, but she continues to stay connected with fans through social media and her website, The Rambling Redhead.

In 2025, one of her updates took a more personal turn, as the home renovator opened up about ongoing health challenges. Todryk shared details about living with an autoimmune disorder and the impact it has on her everyday life. Here’s what we know about her condition and what she has said publicly.

What illness does Jenn Todryk have?

Todryk has been diagnosed with Hashimoto’s disease. She spoke candidly about it during an episode of her podcast with her husband in September 2025.

“I am struggling with that all the time, with Hashimoto’s,” she said.

The former HGTV star explained that the condition has become “part of my identity” and something she thinks about “every single day.” She described dealing with a constant level of inflammation and noted that she tends to get sick more often than the average person.

“It just feels like you have pregnancy exhaustion,” she said, “or like you’ve worked a 12- to 16-hour shift.”

Todryk added that the fatigue can become so intense that it feels difficult to stay awake or focused.

She shared that flare-ups typically happen once or twice a month. In an earlier interview with TV Insider in 2023, she referred to the condition as a “silent epidemic,” explaining that many women struggle with hormonal issues without realizing what’s truly going on.

“I think there are a lot of women…being misdiagnosed,” she said, adding that she talks about it whenever possible to raise awareness.

Todryk was first diagnosed with hypothyroidism in 2014 at age 26, and her Hashimoto’s diagnosis was officially confirmed in 2017.

What is Hashimoto’s disease?

Hashimoto’s is an autoimmune disorder that affects the thyroid gland, which plays a major role in regulating metabolism, energy, and many body functions.

According to the Mayo Clinic, in Hashimoto’s disease, immune-system cells attack the thyroid, damaging its ability to produce hormones. This often results in hypothyroidism, or low thyroid function.

Todryk has shared that her earliest symptom was feeling cold all the time.

“I remember being bundled up in a sweatshirt and still freezing,” she told Healthy Women. “Even if it was 100 degrees outside, I’d still feel cold.”

A blood test confirmed an underactive thyroid, but years later, more detailed testing from a functional medicine doctor revealed Hashimoto’s specifically. Todryk began taking a natural form of thyroid hormone to help manage symptoms.

What happened to Jenn Todryk?

Today, Todryk continues doing her best to push through flare-ups while balancing family life, her podcast, and her online work.

No Demo Reno aired for three seasons before ending in 2023. Todryk has said she currently has no plans to return for another season, even though HGTV did request a fourth.

She explained that she and the network couldn’t reach an agreement that would make filming manageable with her schedule.

“I basically had to come to the realization that I’m either all-in…or I don’t do it,” she said.

In March 2025, Todryk told TV Insider that she remains grateful for her relationship with HGTV and that the door is still open for future projects.

“But life is so busy right now,” she said. “I’m just trying to survive with all the home life stuff now.”
