Cat Found Alive After 16 Days Trapped in Tornado Rubble

A 13-year-old family cat named Lavern was found alive after spending 16 days trapped beneath the rubble of her family’s tornado-destroyed home in Joplin.
Her owners, Terrla Cruse and J.E. Cruse, returned to the property to retrieve important documents when they heard faint meowing coming from under the debris.
At first, they could hardly believe the sound, given the destruction left behind by the powerful storm that had devastated the area.
After carefully searching through the wreckage, the couple located Lavern alive beneath the rubble, bringing an emotional moment of relief and disbelief.
The cat was weak, dehydrated, and noticeably thin after more than two weeks trapped without proper food or water.
Veterinarians who examined Lavern say she is expected to make a full recovery with proper treatment and care.
The remarkable survival story has become a symbol of resilience and hope, highlighting the extraordinary endurance animals can show even in the most devastating circumstances. 🐾
