Spanish PM’s three-word response to Trump’s trade threat

As smoke from strikes over Tehran filled global news, Spain decided not to support the military operation. The government in Madrid refused to allow the use of its bases for the action.
Spanish authorities stressed that any military operation must follow the UN Charter and international law. This position was presented as a key principle of the country’s foreign policy.
Spain’s decision triggered strong reactions in the United States. Former U.S. President Donald Trump reacted angrily to the stance.
Trump even warned that trade relations with Spain could be cut. His statement further increased political tensions between the two countries.
Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez responded to the criticism with a clear message: “No to war.” He emphasized that Spain’s decision was based on the principles of peace and respect for international law.
According to Sánchez, the government’s position aims to protect national dignity and avoid involvement in conflicts that lack international legal support.
The diplomatic dispute also highlighted growing tensions between Europe and the United States, as Spain chose to stand by its principles despite political pressure.
