Man asks AI to take the mask off man on doorbell camera at Nancy Guthrie’s home and gets eerie response

Nancy Guthrie, the mother of Today host Savannah Guthrie, has been missing for nearly two weeks as authorities continue their search in Arizona.
Police recently released doorbell camera footage showing a masked individual approaching her home. However, investigators have not publicly identified the person in the video or confirmed whether the individual is directly connected to Guthrie’s disappearance.
Now, the case has drawn additional attention online after a YouTuber shared an AI-generated image claiming to depict what the masked figure might look like without a face covering.
In a video posted this week, commentator Professor Nez said he used artificial intelligence software to produce a speculative reconstruction of the suspect’s face. He suggested the result appeared similar to a person he claimed had connections to members of the extended family.
Nez described the resemblance as “eerie,” pointing to features such as facial hair, eyebrows, and eye shape. He said the image was generated using Grok AI, which he claimed could digitally “remove” the mask.
However, experts have repeatedly warned that AI-generated reconstructions are not the same as real evidence. Such tools cannot reliably reveal hidden facial features and may produce misleading or entirely fabricated results.
Authorities have not confirmed the accuracy of the AI image, nor have they named any suspects in the case. Police have also not indicated that the individual referenced in the video is under investigation.
As the search enters its 13th day, officials continue to urge the public to rely on verified updates from law enforcement rather than online speculation.
Nancy Guthrie’s family remains hopeful for answers, and supporters continue to express concern and prayers for her safe return.
